Greetings from the up-north big buck country folks.

Our winter has been cold but snow depths are still low about 18-22” There is a slight crust on the snow Deer mobility is still good and the wolf predation remains low.

The -40 weather will take care of any parasites.

Our feed program is in full swing and deer numbers are looking good.

We have found large rubs on trees, in four different hunting areas, which seems unusual for this time of year. Some of these rubs are in access of 12” diameter. There must be some real bad boys out there in the woods.

Just a recap, last fall 2008 hunt, we had a 95% success rate, several big bucks harvested.

We are in the process of developing several new food plots for spring of 2009.

For the past 3 years we have used Whitetail Deer Institute, seed out of Alabama. The Chicory Plus on our regular food plot areas was very successful.

We planted Winter Greens in the late season food areas. When the cold weather hit in early October, the deer ate the areas clear down to the dirt.

In ’09 we will be putting in larger areas of Winter Greens for a longer sustained harvest by the deer. Without a doubt Whitetail Deer Institute has the best germination, growth and deer palatability of anything we have ever tried .

Our rifle season is booked for '09 but we are now booking for '10

We are changing our arcery hunt from 5 day to a 7 day hunt, we have openings for '09.

We are currently up-dating our website- if you have any suggestions send us an e-mail.

Hope to see y'all soon down at Heritage.  Charlie & Marie
